SUBJECT:Poverty Guidelines for 2005
Purpose:To publish updated tables

The attached tables reflect the Poverty Income Guidelines for 2005.

Background:The United States Department of Health and Human Services published Poverty Income Guidelines for 2005 in the February 18, 2005 edition of the Federal Register.

These guidelines go into effect on the day they are published unless an office administering a program using the guidelines specifies a different effective date for that particular program.

Poverty Guidelines are used to determine Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) eligibility and consequently eligibility for many program services. For information about how the poverty guidelines are used or how income is defined in a particular program, contact the Federal (or other) office which is responsible for that program.

Persons with Internet access may visit the poverty guidelines Internet site at http://aspe.hhs.gov/poverty

Action:Please replace old poverty guidelines with those for 2005.
