  • Dr. Jeff King, Director of the United States European Network for Education & Training, will lead the board in a strategic planning discussion to assist in focusing the board and its subcommittees on the establishment of goals and policies to assure a world-class economy for the State and its workforce.

7:30-9:30pmJoint Meeting of the State Workforce Investment Board and the Board of Regents
To facilitate the discussion between the two boards, the following questions are provided:
  • How can New York’s educational system help address labor market shortages in health care, information technology and teaching?
  • How can Regents directions for career and technical education and a pre-K through 16/adult education system support efforts to prepare emerging workers?
  • How can we connect workforce development efforts that serve at risk youth with efforts to close the performance gap in student achievement?

*The Incumbent Worker Subcommittee will meet from 10:00 am- 1:30pm on April 23rd, in a facilitated planning session led by Dr. Jeff King. The purpose of the meeting will be to establish the foundation for determining the subcommittee’s long and short term goals. Any state board member who wishes to attend this session is welcome and is encouraged to do so. Although the primary focus will be on the work of the Incumbent Worker Subcommittee, members of the Transitional Workers Subcommittee may find this discussion of particular benefit.
