Promising Practices RFA
- Process and expectations for sharing practices among local areas:
Local Board Chairs have asked for more sharing of practices that have been successful in one area and might be replicated in another area. In response, a section of the www.workforcenewyork.org website is devoted to Promising Practices. Some of these practices were awarded incentive funds last year and have been available for review by other interested parties. In addition, we have released the Second Year Promising Practices which is open to local WIA areas. The grant will provide incentive awards to recognize local promising practices related to local workforce development initiatives implemented within the past five years that demonstrate data-supported results. Award amount will be $75,000 per practice (maximum 2 awarded per local area). A $25,000 bonus will be granted for joint/regional submissions.
The Subcommittee suggested that at future Subcommittee meetings promising practices be presented by the area that was awarded incentive funds, to discuss the practice. This might also be something worthwhile for the SWIB meeting.
One Stop Certification/Re-Certification Process
- Status to Date: 32 Local Areas have requested state certification; 32 Local Areas have had a site review completed; 28 Local Areas granted Workforce New York Certification. NYC is the only area that has not applied. Issues are being resolved in Niagara; Rockland. Visit just completed in Chautauqua-final report is expected by end of week.
- Process used and plans for re-certification- Hand Out of the process that was utilized for the original certification. Plans are being made for subsequent certification will include adding the work of the Systems Indicator Team. We are using the secret shopper results as a continuous program improvement and we will be looking to see how deficiencies/recommendations are being implemented at the local level.
- Customer Satisfaction: Tony Joseph, NYS Division of Research and Statistics, discussed some of the data that can help us with one of the critical success factors that we identified as important: Customer Satisfaction Feedback from the Business and Jobseeker. The System Indicator Team will review this information and will look at the process to collect and interpret relevant data.
