The New York State Workforce Investment Board's first meeting was convened by Mr. William Howard, the Governor's Deputy Secretary for State Operations at the State Capitol on March 27, 2000.Mr. Howard and James Dillon, Executive Deputy Commissioner of the State Department of Labor, briefed the board members on the Governor's vision for an integrated workforce development system that will continue the economic vitality of the state while meeting the challenges of the businesses and jobseekers for a skilled workforce.
For the State Board's first actions, the members unanimously voted and approved the:
- Strategic Five Year State Plan;
- Designation of the Local Workforce Investment Areas; and,
- Workforce Investment Act Allocation Formulas to Local Areas.
